Animals Available for Adoption

To see up to date photos of dogs, cats and horses in our care looking for loving homes or to see dogs in Cavan Council Dog Pound plus lost and found animals please go to our Facebook page Cavan SPCA as it is updated daily.

The adoption fee is €95 for puppies fully vaccinated, wormed and microchipped and €120 for dogs 6 months and over, neutered, fully vaccinated, wormed and microchipped.  If you cannot afford this then you cannot afford to have a dog,  to have all these things done in a vet yourself would cost a lot more than we are charging and it doesn’t even cover our costs.  We do not get all these things done for free as many people think, we get a small discount at the vets.  Too many animals are being handed in because people are saying they can’t afford them so we need to make sure the animals will go to a home that if they need veterinary care you will be able to cover the costs.

Missing cat Cavan town

My beloved ten year old large black and white housecat Pipsie escaped from her carrier in my car on the way to the vet in Tesco Car
Park Tuesday afternoon (Jan 7th 2014). She took refuge in a clump of trees by the Odeon Cinema where she was then disturbed by a
large dog on the loose. She vanished from my sight. She is very gentle and a real scaredy cat
who will be terrified by the volume of traffic and the noise and is afraid of her own shadow. By now she will need veterinary treatment.
If you or anyone you know sees her in Tesco Car Park or around Tulac Mongan or the town can they please get in touch with me urgently. She has never been away from home and lives 20 miles from Cavan out in the countryside which is all she has ever known.  She is wearing a tan collar and an ID tag with her name and my phone number on it.
Please call Elaine on 087 656 8020 with any information.

Plans for new quarantine unit

This is the quarantine unit we need to raise €14,000 to build for new dogs and cats coming into the shelter. It will have 5 indoor and outdoor kennels, it will have a hallway outside the kennels where new animals will be brought directly and where they will be vaccinated and wormed and treated in any way they need to be and then directly put into a kennel. New animals coming into the shelter especially pups who are very high risk, must be quarantined for 2 weeks to make sure they are not carrying any diseases, or to separate and treat dogs with contagious skin conditions such as mange. This unit has been specially designed for us by Eco Insulation Solutions, Cavan www.ecoinsulationsolutions .com . We will be having many fundraising events over the coming months to raise money for this building, please give what you can as this unit will allow us to safely take in more stray and surrendered animals in Cavan. We are currently setting up a PayPal donate button but in the mean time if you would like to make a donation to Cavan SPCA towards the quarantine unit you can transfer money directly into our bank account. Ulster Bank, Sort Code: 98-54-50, Account Number: 10214275. Also we desperately need people who would like to organise fund raising events on our behalf, we are a very small team and if anyone would like to get a few people together to organise something for us we will help you in any way we can. Thank you very much without donations we cannot continue our work!

QUARANTINE UNIT FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

For a long time now we have needed a much larger quarantine unit for the new dogs especially pups coming into CSPCA. Every dog must be quarantined so we can be sure that they are not carrying any diseases that may harm the other dogs or themselves. The pups are most at risk so quarantining them is a must, but we have very limited space for this. With this new quarantine unit we would be able to take in more dogs as the current quarantine spaces could be used to hold more dogs and dogs that come out of the quarantine unit can go to fosters also after 2 weeks. We need to raise €14,000 to be able to build this unit which has been specially designed by Eco Insulation Solutions for our needs.
